Looking for a family getaway that mixes mouthwatering meals with majestic mountain views? Whether you're planning a weekend escape or just exploring your backyard, Colorado Springs is packed with places that will fill your belly and fuel your soul. From speakeasies to scenic hikes, here’s your ultimate guide to the best restaurants and family-friendly attractions in the area—plus a few spots that are just for the grown-ups.

🥞 Best Restaurants in Colorado Springs

Because every great adventure needs a great meal (or three)...

🍔 Skirted Heifer – Burgers done right
Locally-sourced, grass-fed, and grilled to perfection. Their burgers wear cheese like a superhero cape (a.k.a skirt).

🍳 Over Easy – Breakfast with a view
Eggs, pancakes, and house-made cinnamon rolls that make getting out of bed totally worth it.

🍦 Josh & John’s – Iconic ice cream
Handcrafted since the ‘80s, and still the scoop of the town.

🍕 Walter’s 303 – Pizza lovers unite
Great pizza, but go early—weekends are hoppin’.

☕ Loyal Coffee – Hip, yet heavenly
Barista-owned and brewed with love. A perfect spot for your quiet morning moment.

🥂 Allusion Speakeasy – Grown-ups only
A secret gem with rotating themes and incredible cocktails. Reservations highly recommended.

🌮 Salsa Brava – Mexican food with flair
Fresh, bold, and family-friendly. Their salsa is basically a playground for your chips.

🍝 Paravicini’s – Classic Italian comfort
Old-world flavors and generous portions. Mangia!

🍽️ Atmosphere Gastropub – Elevated eats for adults
Not the best for little ones, but a culinary treat for date night.

🥓 Denver Biscuit Company – Southern breakfast bliss
Biscuits bigger than your head. Bring your appetite and stretchy pants.

🍕 COATI – Trendy indoor food court
A mix of eateries under one roof. Everyone gets what they want!

🧊 Ice Cream Mill & Milkshake Factory – Cool treats for hot days
Two sweet spots with serious flavor and Instagram-worthy desserts.

💰 Brother Luck, Summit Room, Prime 25 – Splurge-worthy dining
On the pricier side, but three restaurants worth every bite for special occasions.

📚 Principal’s Office – Coffee with class

Located inside Ivywild School, this coffeehouse is smart in more ways than one.

Majestic red rocks, walking trails, and rock-climbing opportunities. A true testament to the Creator's design.

A quieter spot to learn about local wildlife and enjoy the great outdoors.

1. Story Dice Adventure
Roll a set of dice with different pictures or words on them, then take turns creating a story based on what you roll.
2. DIY Time Machine
Use a cardboard box to build a "time machine" and have your kids imagine traveling to different eras. Ask them what they see, hear, and do in each place.
3. Magical Potion Lab
Set up a pretend potion-making station with colored water, baking soda, vinegar, glitter, and other fun ingredients. Let them create their own magical mixtures!
4. Shadow Puppet Theater
Use flashlights and cut-out paper characters to create a shadow puppet show on a blank wall. Let the kids come up with their own storyline.
5. Treasure Map Adventure
Make a treasure map of your house or yard, hiding a small “treasure” for them to find. Let them create their own maps afterward and hide treasures for you!
6. Build a Storybook World
Pick a favorite story and have your kids build a scene from it using LEGOs, clay, or craft materials. Then, encourage them to create their own spin-off adventure.
7. Silly Superhero Day
Ask your kids to invent their own superhero with a unique power, name, and costume. Then, have them act out a heroic adventure!
8. Cardboard Kingdom
Give them a pile of cardboard boxes, markers, and tape, and let them build their own castles, spaceships, or pirate ships.
9. Mystery Object Challenge
Fill a bag with random household items and challenge your kids to come up with creative uses for them. (Example: "This spoon is actually a magic wand!")
10. Backward Day
Flip the day upside-down—wear clothes backward, walk backward, talk backward (or in silly voices), and encourage them to imagine what a world of backward living would be like!

These activities will not only fuel their imagination but also create great memories with them! Which one do you think your kids would love most?
